It’s about time!  The long wait for the second trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will end tomorrow, and we’ll have it up on the site as soon as it goes live.  To tide us over, we have a new banner today that has Bilbo and company definitely dealing with some spidery fellows.  The trailer is supposed to be up 9 a.m. EST so it’ll be interesting to see how much they show us of Smaug, Beorn, the Necromancer and the other surprises waiting round the bend.

The second part of Peter Jackson’s new trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. It hits theaters December 13.

The Walking Dead Season Four Photo Gallery, Plot Details, and First Four Episode Descriptions

The Walking Dead, Andrew Lincoln, Rick Grimes

The Walking Dead is set to return to AMC next month so you have time to catch up with the first three seasons before the walkers start after our heroes again.  The series has now diverged so far from the comic that I have no idea where it goes from here.  I was not a fan of the way they ended season three, but only because I was so disappointed with how they’d ruined (SPOILER) that it didn’t bother me when (SPOILER) in the head.  One thing they did massively improve on from the second season was the pacing, getting things back to the urgent feeling we got in the first season.  Take in these newly released shots of Rick and company (so glad Tyrese finally showed up) and the official AMC season synopsis as well as the titles and descriptions of the first four episodes are  down below.
Tyrese Gibson, The Walking Dead

One last thing, for those watching The Walking Dead Webisode series, it’s set to return on October 1st. There are three new installments called The Oath. It was directed by Greg Nicotero, the story will follow the lone survivors of a massive zombie attack, and it stars Ashley Bell (The Last Exorcism 2), Wyatt Russell, and Ellen Greene. The director had this to say in a statement,

“The webisodes give us a unique opportunity to see other parts of the ravaged world of ‘The Walking Dead’ while weaving in and out of our show. The crossover between ‘The Oath’ and ‘The Walking Dead’ ties in one of the most iconic images from the series, and gives us insights and history to yet another timeline.”

Herschel, Rick Grimes, Andrew Lincoln, The Walking DeadEPISODE 401: 30 Days Without An Accident – Rick and the group are as close to an ideal life as possible at the prison. Will they be able to hold on to humanity in the face of a new evil?

EPISODE 402: Infected – As the group faces a brand new enemy, Rick and the others must fight to protect the livelihood they worked so hard to create at the prison.

EPISODE 403: Isolation – A group leaves the prison to search for supplies; the remaining members of the group deal with recent losses.

EPISODE 404: Indifference – The supply mission faces hurdles; the situation at the prison worsens.

In the highly anticipated new season, we find Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the group fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison. Sadly, in this brutal world, happiness is short-lived and walkers and outside threats are no match for danger brewing inside the fences. The group’s home and new way of life will be thoroughly tested, and their struggle to survive has never been so perilous. Season 4 also introduces several new characters including Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard Jr., “The Wire”).

The Walking Dead Season 4 premieres on Sunday, October 13 at 9 PM ET on AMC.

Trailer Time: Frozen Trailer #2 (2013)

From the same team that turned Rapunzel into Tangled (which I thought was the best Disney animated film since the 1990s glory days), we have our first real look at Frozen. A teaser trailer for the film was released several months ago,but it was more of an animated short than any indication of where the film is headed.  It would be nice to have a Disney classic around the holidays.  Adapted from Hans Christen Andersen’s The Snow Queen, Frozen hits theaters on November 27, 2013.

R.I.P. Breaking Bad (2008 – 2013), A Farewell Picture Gallery (No Spoilers)

AMC Breaking Bad, Walter White, Jesse Pinkman, Aaron Paul, Walter WhiteHaving just finished watching the 62nd and final episode of Breaking Bad, I’m still digesting.  I’ll be cogitating on this for a long time to come, but a lot or people haven’t seen it yet, so I’ll wait a day or so before getting into a spoilery analysis.  The decision to take a year to get these eight episodes right, was brilliant.  It allowed Vince Gilligan and his writers the chance to tightly blend a finale to this crime opus worthy of the rest of the series.  Not only was it worthy of it, Breaking Bad went on as strong a group of episodes as it’s ever had.  My favorite was Ozymandias, but out of the eight, I’d give six 10.0’s.  That’s the quality with which this show was sent off.  So no more tonight.  Just some pics of the cast and the bittersweet knowledge that a good thing…rather a bad thing…came to a a good end.
