Best of the Joker Montage – from Caesar Romero to Heath Ledger

This awesome montage does service to the best villain in all of comics in all his adapted forms over the decades.  The thing about the Joker that makes him so effective is that he’s ever-changing.  He’s like trying to nail water to the wall.  He adapts and morphs and shifts personalities so you’re never really seeing quite the same thing twice, though it may wear the same face.  Heath Ledger‘s is my favorite Joker, but Mark Hamill‘s is a close second.  They’re two facets of the same gem.  It’s hard to imagine anyone but Ledger in a live-action film playing the Joker, but DC will try, most likely in the first solo Affleck film.  That’s not to say the person who goes next doesn’t have enormous shoes to fill (because he’s a clown…heh) but the mistake would be to try to imitate a previous version.  The most successful and timeless interpretations of the character come from original takes that become part of this overarching mythos this video does such a good job of capturing.
