The Night King in Game of Thrones

Poll Results: The Best Show on TV Is…..

Killing Time readers voted and the new winner of the title: Best Show on TV is the first winner the site ever dubbed back in 2013 – HBO’s Game of Thrones.  The seventh, and next-to-last season for the HBO fantasy drama lead from start to finish, ending up fending off its sister show on HBO, Westworld, which finished second after its first season.  Sherlock finished third for its fourth season, and last season’s winner, The Flash finished tied with Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why to round out the top five.  The voting was very diverse, with 13 of the 15 nominees getting at least one vote.

Here’s the history of our winners:
2013: Game of Thrones Season Three (HBO)
2014: The Walking Dead Season Four (AMC)
2015: Daredevil Season One (Netflix)
2016: The Flash Season Two (The CW)
2017: Game of Thrones Season Seven (HBO)
Anthony Hopkins in Westworld
If the winner, for the most part, seem familiar, its because the Emmys (stunningly) did a pretty good job this year in rewarding the right people.  Game of Thrones was not eligible for Emmy consideration this year, having missed their deadline, but I agreed with the majority of their picks.  As a lot of old favorites are getting long in the tooth, it was heartening to see so many new outstanding shows this year, and for best show, I agreed wholeheartedly with the community that HBO’s Game of Thrones remains far and away the best thing on TV.  Thank you to everyone who voted, and since Game of Thrones will not be eligible for next year’s voting, we will see the trophy changing hands again in 2018.  We’ve got a lot of great TV to watch between now and then, but I think we’ll see a lot of these same shows back in the running next year.
