KT Readers Choose The Best Show on TV (4th Annual Awards)!!!!

Each September, in conjunction with Emmy month, Killing Time readers choose what they believe to be the best show currently on television.  TV has gone from a second tier medium to one that is consistently better with more variety than the movies.  There’s so much quality, in fact, that, this year, I doubled the nominees from the regular 10 to 20 shows. We had a record number of votes for any poll in the history of the site, and every one of the 20 shows received votes, but in the end, we have our fourth new winner in four years: The Flash is the best show on television.

Grant Gustin, The Flash

In true form, things were very equal in the beginning, with Game of Thrones (my choice and winner of 12 Emmys) leading early, but then the Scarlet Speedster roared past the other 19 entrants and lead the final three weeks by a very healthy margin.  Finishing second, really the only show within sight of The Flash, is the show it spun-off of: Arrow.  Game of Thrones landed in third place, The Walking Dead in fourth, and last year’s champ – Daredevil – edged out The Blacklist for fifth place.  All hail the new king of TV!  The Flash is planning on an extremely ambitious third season, and will return to The CW with new episodes this Tuesday (10/4/16), kicking off The Flashpoint storyline.

This is the first time that a broadcast TV drama or comedy has won the award, so perhaps a bit of hope still remains for free airwaves (as long as it’s a CW super hero show or The Blacklist).  For the sake of site history, our four annual winners have been:
2013: Game of Thrones Season Three (HBO)
2014: The Walking Dead Season Four (AMC)
2015: Daredevil Season One (Netflix)
2016: The Flash Season Two (The CW)

Oliver Queen, Arrow, Green Arrow, Stephen Amell

While I let you anoint the community’s show, with the announcement of the poll’s winner, comes the Renaissance TV Awards, which are a non-democratic affair.  Here are are my choices for the best of TV.
