Star Wars Episode VII Is The New King of Opening Weekend Box Office!!!

After setting a single-day record Friday, by becoming the first film to ever make over $100 million in a single day, it wasn’t a matter of IF Star Wars Episode VII was going to break box office records, it was a matter of HOW many and by HOW much.  The answer is pretty much ALL of them and by a LOT.  The seventh episode in the science fiction saga made $238 million domestic (shattering Jurassic World‘s record) and $517 million internationally.  With the quality of the film, the word-of-mouth, a traditional holiday movie season, and weakened competition, I would be stunned if this film did not pass Avatar and become the new box office champ.  I know I will be contributing quite a lot of money to that effort over the holiday season and weeks to come.  Read below for Coming Soon’s comprehensive rundown of exactly how many records The Force Awakens broke, then go see it again (because you know you want to).
