My Favorite Scene: Terminator 2 Judgment Day (1991) “Galleria/Motorcycle Chase”

It’s not an overstatement to say that Terminator 2: Judgment Day is one of the most important movies of all-time.  That title is earned, not only because the movie still stands as one of the greatest action films ever made, but because it changed the way movies are made forever.  Before T2, you would have to look back to the Star Wars original trilogy and Godfather Part II to find sequels that critics and audiences both hailed as surpassing their original.  “Sequel” was a radioactive word in Hollywood, and T2 is one of the main films that helped to change than and (for better and worse) brought the modern trend of franchising to the fore. Top 5: Sequels

Back in the day, sequels were awful….well, come to think of it, most sequels are still pretty awful, but they’re definitely an improved art than they were.  Everything that makes $100 million or more gets a sequel now it seems, and franchises rule movie making.  There’s a lot of room for juggling and hair-splitting at the top of this list.  It could flip and flop depending on my mood (though that could be said of most things I opine on…)

1. The Dark Knight (2008)

The Dark Knight, Batman, Joker, Two Face, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Movie Supercut

It’s been awhile since we had a good Supercut.  A montage of movie magic by Marc Federico.  And what better way to greet Friday than with the primal cinematic howl of NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  Time-tested and abused unto death, it remains awesome in its pathos.  I wish my days were dramatic enough to require its constant usage to a John Williams score.  Happy Friday to all!
