Is There Another Matrix Trilogy Coming?

The Matrix, Trinity, Neo, Carrie Ann Moss, Keanu Reeves

Latino News has dropped a nuke of a rumor on the net tonight that the Wachowskis are planning on another Matrix trilogy; not just planning but are already deep into writing on the new movies.  This is a huge WOW given that I have heard absolutely nothing about any more films since Matrix Revolutions came out in 2003.  The end of the trilogy (possibly one of the worst, most disappointing endings in the history of endings) certainly implied that the story could go on; that either Neo would return or another “One” as the Matrix had generated in the past.  Here’s the quote from Latino News:

“We’ve been told that the Wachowski’s have already started the writing process with early treatments and outlines already turned into the studio. No word if they will want to direct but my money says “Claro que Si!”… Continue reading Is There Another Matrix Trilogy Coming?

Top 5: XBOX One Games So Far

Top 5

I was extremely blessed to get an Xbox One to augment the fun and shenanigans that go on here at Killing Time HQ shortly after the console launched.  It is an amazing system.  After playing Xbox 360 (and still playing) for six years, it is astounding to me how quiet and fast the XB1 is.  The thing is….and the PS4 can’t say any differently, this console generation launched without a signature game.  No Halo.  No exclusive title that would make the console a necessity.  Don’t get me wrong, I love mine and I think with Titanfall only two weeks away the start of the real next generation of gaming.  I maintain that it would have made more sense for both of these consoles to launch in 2014, but having played nearly every game available for the Xbox One thus far, these are the five best games you can get (I do still need to start The LEGO Movie Video Game, so that may well change this list).

1. Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition
Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider The Definitive Edition, Lara Croft

2. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, Edward Kennaway

3. Peggle 2
Peggle 2, Bjorn the Unicorn

4. Dead Rising 3
Dead Rising 3

5. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare

OSCAR WEEK 2014: Oscar Picks – Who We’d Pick – Who They’ll Pick – and Who They SHOULD Pick

The Academy Awards are this Sunday and after a very strange year in movies, I think we can anticipate an equally strange show.  My sense is that 12 Years as a Slave is going to take Picture and Actor and I think the delay in the show has vaulted Nyong’o over Jennifer Lawrence and it will grab Supporting Actress as well.  If there is one lock for the show, it’s Alfonso Cuaron for director.  He hasn’t lost a single major award for Gravity and I think that film will also sweep most of the technical awards and may end up with the most trophies.

Here are all of the categories minus what I call the “time to make a snack” group as well as documentary and foreign film.  I haven’t seen any from last year so I can’t really make an informed pick.  For each I give you who I would give the award to, who I think deserves it out of the nominated group and who I think will actually get it.  We’ll do a post-game on Monday and see how I did with my picks.  If you want to get yours in the comments and try to beat me, bring it on!  Continue reading OSCAR WEEK 2014: Oscar Picks – Who We’d Pick – Who They’ll Pick – and Who They SHOULD Pick

Killing Time – February 27, 2014

The Olympics are over, and we’ve bid farewell to Sochi.  In two and a half years we’ll reconvene in Rio for the 2016 Summer Olympics by which time Bob Costas should have bionic eye implants so as to guard against the disaster that was his pinkeye.  It was a very odd games.  To have finished with so many medals, it didn’t feel like the US team did so well and it was devastating not to come up with a medal after making the semis of the hockey tournament.  There really wasn’t a defining moment.  That being said, for all the talk of terrorism and grand disaster, the Russian people pulled it off and props to them.
