I wonder how many of these teasers these guys filmed. Knowing them, none of it was scripted and they probably shot dozens of them (all of which will be on the blu ray). I have said it before and I will say it again: Anchorman is the greatest comedy of the last decade. It’s math. This is the second teaser for the return of Ron Burgundy and Co. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues will open on December 20, 2013. Stay classy.
Just a quick reminder to gamers (as if there’s not a ticking clock in front of your eyes right now), Microsoft will be announcing the next generation of XBOX tomorrow at 10 am PST/ 1 pm EST. You can watch it live on XBOX Live, Spike TV, and streamed on a host of other places. A few weeks ago, I did a piece about the things I’m hoping for most out of the announcement and the new console. From what I’m hearing, it’s Xbox Infinity and the “always on” controversy looks like it’s coming down on the side of not having that requirement, but what DRM restrictions Might be included, who knows? Exciting times! If you want to check out the top 5 piece, link below:
May 22, 2015, will see an Assassin’s Creed movie with Michael Fassbender (X-Men First Class) already set to star hit the screen. There is no director attached yet, though with a star and a release date nailed down, I think we’ll hear something on that shortly. Unlike most video game movies, Assassin’s Creed has the potential for a great movie transition. There are three video game franchises that are rich enough, in my mind, to make for a fantastic screen adaptations: Halo, Mass Effect and Assassin’s Creed. If you told me that we’d get an AC movie before a Halo movie, I’d have laughed myself silly. There have been five games in the Assassin’s Creed series thus far. It’s only speculation, but my guess is that Fassbender would play the first game’s assassin: Altair. The games center around a millennium-long war between the Templars and the Assassins, flashing back between the war in modern times and whatever period/assassin is correlating with the fight in the present.
May 2015 is choice real estate. Avengers 2 will open the month and, though we don’t have an exact release date, we know Star Wars Episode VII is Summer 2015, though I doubt Disney would risk sapping money from either of its two cash cows so I think Star Wars will be more of an Independence Day (plus or minus two weeks) release). 2015 just continues to get better and better!
Oh now don’t be mad. We need something to tide ourselves over for the year or so until we get a real teaser and this genius gave us something to practice geeking out over! Combining footage from mostly The Force Unleashed and Old Republic video games with voice over by Benedict Cumberbatch (little Star Trek XI in there too), it actually sets the bar for whatever that actual trailer will be pretty high, but I’m sure Abrams and Lucas will deliver far beyond.
